Private holiday letting (temporary letting of the house where you live yourself for the rest of the year) is allowed under the following conditions:Property has ‘residential’ destination or another destination within which the property is permitted.The person renting out the property has to be the principal occupant of the property and be permanently registered with the Basic Registration of Persons (BRP).Principal occupant must actually live in the residence for at least eight months per calendar year.Private holiday lets are only allowed on an incidental basis: maximum 60 nights per calendar year.For private holiday lets, tourist tax must be paid. The tourist tax is €3 per person per night.Private holiday lets may be offered to a maximum of four people.Private holiday lets may not lead to nuisance.Prior to the 1st time of private holiday letting of a house, the landlord has to register once with the municipality.If you rent out part of your house as a Bed & Breakfast then this maximum does not apply.
