The Portuguese government has proposed significant changes to Local Accommodation (AL) regulations, aiming to reverse several restrictive measures from the previous “Mais Habitação” package.
These proposals include allowing AL licenses to be transferred when properties are sold and abolishing the mandatory expiration dates, which previously required renewals every five years. Additionally, the requirement for unanimous condominium approval for AL units in residential buildings would be removed, with local municipalities gaining the power to make these decisions.
These changes are not yet in effect and are currently under consideration.
