Revoking the Extraordinary Contribution on Local Accommodation (CEAL) is one of the measures in the New Housing Strategy, presented this Friday by the Prime Minister and the Minister of Infrastructure. It should be the subject of a legislative initiative within 10 days. It is recalled that during the debate to present the Government’s program in April, Luís Montenegro had already expressed his desire to end the measures of the Mais Habitação programme.
Alojamento Local key changes to expect:
– Lifting of Restrictions on New Licences
– Elimination of Special Contribution (CEAL)
– Freedom in License Transmission
– IMI AL Coefficient Reduction
The measures announced by the new government are positive for the Local Accommodation Association in Portugal (ALEP), but we have to “wait and see.”
“The municipalities will have a say in this,” said the minister. The idea is that municipalities can assess the territory and have room for manoeuvre to lift the suspension, for example, in parishes where they consider there is no shortage of housing.
